DAY OFF - 20080816 - No running

I was hoping to go for a run in Hiroshima. I took running cloths with me on the train and messaged my legs to try to get them ready on the way. They just were not ready yet. So I walked around Hiroshima and stretched a bit. I ended up buying a $400 leg massager that I tried out at Yamada Denki. It made my legs feel pretty good. I think I could spend a good amount of time on that about twice a day and make a big difference. It really softened my muscles up and the parts that were still sore I could finally get deep enough with my hands to work those spots out. I am happy with the buy and hope this will turn my legs around. I think Chikako will like using it too.

DAY OFF - 20080815 - No running

I was back to the point where my leg was very sore again and I was looking for a massage. I couldn't find one here in Iwakuni. So I drove out to another prefecture looking for a handheld massage machine at the DeoDeo or the Yamata Denki stores. I found a good one that was all sold out. I plan to look in Hiroshima this weekend.

Slow & Easy - 20080814 - 1 Run - 8.5 Miles

Evening Run

I took a nap after work because I needed the sleep and wanted to wait for the cool off. It was cooler when I started the run and I wanted to get in 12+ miles but the horizon showed lighting coming and I didn't want to be in a flat area with a bad lightning storm coming. I decided to do a lap on base and include the new area. The run was nice and I seen the Japanese boat/plane for the first time. The run was good and lasted around 80 minutes for a 8.5 miler. My leg soreness was still there a little.

DAY OFF - 20080813 - No running

I took the day off after running that monster hill. I stretched and worked on my right calf which was in some pain. This is the same spot I've gotten sore at before.

Slow & Miserable - 20080812 - 1 Run - 4.2 Miles

Evening Run

I drove out to the base of the hill at the Kintai Castle for a run right after work. I had heard there were trails leading up to the top without taking the lift. So I explored, found the hill, and ran it. It kicked my butt.

I ran slow and had to stop a few times to massage out my calf which had already been bothering me. I ran for 52 minutes. The view from the top was great but the climb was hard. I climbed 800 feet but if felt higher than that.
